Jesus C. Hernandez (J.C. Hernández) was born in Jaén in 1969. He received the M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in 1995 at the University of Seville (Spain) and Ph.D. degree in 2003 at the University of Jaen (Spain). He has been an Associate Professor since 2001 in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Jaen.
Scientific activities: He is member of the research group TEP-101 ‘Investigación y Desarrollo en Energía Solar y Automática’ since 1996 inside the Research Andalusian Program. It has 24 publications in JCR-indexed journals, 3 publications in Scopus-indexed journals, 1 publication in Dialnet-indexed journal, 1 book, 1 book chapter and 52 contributions to national and international scientific conferences. He collaborates as reviewer in 30 JCR-indexed journals and as editor in 1 JCR-indexed journal. He has been responsible for sub-task in research project of the National R+D+I Plan of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. He has participated/participates as a researcher in 11 research projects obtained in public calls: 2 European Project, 6 National Projects, 3 Andalusian Autonomous Community’s Projects. He has been the principal investigator in 2 research contracts with companies and has participated/participates as researcher in 15 research’s agreement with companies. It has recognized two sexennial of investigation by the CNEAI.
Academic positions: (i) Secretary of the Department of Electrical Engineering (2012-2014); (ii) Vice-dean for educational programs in the Faculty of Engineering (Higher Polytechnic School) at University of Jaen (2014-currently); (iii) Coordinator of the Master of Industrial Engineering at the University of Jaén (2014-currently).
Other merits and activities: Has obtained the positive evaluation of the ANECA for the figure of Associate Professor with tenure. He has done a pre-doctoral research stay at the Polytechnic Institute “Jose Antonio Echevería” of the University of Havana (Cuba) -2 months- and two postdoctoral research stays, one at the Second University of Naples (Italy) -3 months- and one stay at Kean University (United States) -1 month-. He has carried out 7 teaching /research stays as Erasmus + coordinator at universities in Europe (Yildiz Technical University, Second University of Naples, Technical University of Sofia, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Universitat Politehnica Din Bucuresti, University of Ljubljana, University of Kragujevac). He works as coordinator with Universities in USA, Canada, South Korea, and China. He has participated in the doctoral program “Electronics” or “Photovoltaic Electricity and Control” and participates in the “General Program of Doctorate in Engineering and Architecture”. He has been invited as professor 5 years in 6 subjects of the degree “License Génie Électrique”, University d’Artois (France) -1 month-. He has directed/co-directed 6 doctoral theses. He is a member of the School Board of the Higher Polytechnic School (EPSJ) since 2009 and belongs to 7 EPSJ commissions.
